About Us

Our mission is to revolutionize how students learn.

Jade Academy is an alternative international educational organization dedicated to advancing innovative, interactive pedagogical practices. We provide project-based and experiential learning programs during winter/summer break as well as after-school classes. Our focus is on teaching future-oriented, interdisciplinary subjects in the humanities (English), social sciences (History), & STEM (Computer Science) that can prepare students for SAT/AP/IB but are taught through the lens of global social issues as well as life/leadership values. Student projects and achievements are showcased in personalized portfolios as they prepare for college and beyond.

Founder Story

Hi! I'm Jade.

When I was in 3rd grade, I walked home one day with all these ideas of how school should be different and BETTER. I started questioning why my teachers ran classes the way the did…and wrote in a journal describing my ideal school (very funny to read now). But thus, my dream of starting a school was born.

After graduating Yale, I jumped into the edtech startup space and soon discovered that while so many companies had great intentions, too many came from tech & finance backgrounds, too many focused on scaling and investment instead of understanding teachers’ needs and caring about student outcomes.

So I decided if I really wanted to do education, I needed to step back into the classroom. In 2018, I moved to Beijing and started teaching full-time. Soon after, I founded Jade Academy and that 3rd grade dream became a reality. And today---is just the beginning!
